Sugarbook is free to join, and its own blog says verified sugar babies can message without paying, but sugar daddies need the paid tier for unlimited messaging, which Sugarbook's blog listed at $89 a month in October 2026; female students who register with a student email can get Premium free for up to five years.
Sugarbook was founded in 2016 and is now run by Sovrnt Ltd. of Larnaca, Cyprus, according to its terms of use dated July 25, 2025. Its pages say "Join Free Today", and that part is true for everyone. What a free account can do after that depends on your role and, for women, on whether you qualify for the Student Program.
This page relies on Sugarbook's own help center, terms and blog first. Where they say nothing, we use third-party reviews and label them. Every figure was checked in October 2026. Prices vary by country, so your own checkout page is the final word.
The short answer
- Free for everyone: creating an account, filling in a profile, face verification, browsing, search, favorites and watching livestreams.
- Sugar babies: Sugarbook's blog says that once verified, women can "browse and message any nearby sugar daddy without paying".
- Sugar daddies: the free account is for looking. Premium adds "Unlimited Messages", read receipts and faster profile approval. Sugarbook's blog puts the paid tier at $89 a month; third-party price tables range from $71.90 to $89.95 for one month.
- Students: the terms offer free Premium only to female members who register as sugar babies with a valid student email, for five years at most.
- No free trial. The help center says "We do not offer free trials", and paid plans renew automatically with no refunds.

Where sources disagree
Can a free sugar daddy send any messages? Sugarbook sells Premium on "unlimited messages", which suggests free accounts get some. It has no published figure for how many. DatingScout says in one place that you cannot send messages for free and in another that free accounts get "free but limited messaging". VIDA Select and DatingApps both describe the free tier as having no messaging. Treat a free male account as browse-only until your own inbox shows otherwise.
The monthly price. Sugarbook's blog says $89 a month, DatingScout lists $89.95 and VIDA Select lists $71.90. DatingScout also lists a 24-month plan that the help center's list of plan lengths does not include. The help center says prices vary with currency, local taxes and regional pricing.
App stores. DatingScout says the app is on the App Store and Google Play. Sugarbook's homepage says it is "Not available on the App Store", and the old Google Play listing returned a 404 error in October 2026. The download help page now points Android users to an APK file on Sugarbook's own site and tells iPhone users to add the website to the home screen.
Member numbers. The homepage claims 6 million+ members and the help center 4 million, while DatingScout estimates about 5,000 in the US.
What users complain about most
Sugarbook scores 3.0 out of 5 on Trustpilot from 37 reviews, with 54% one-star. The company claimed the profile in August 2025 and, per Trustpilot, replies to its negative reviews. Billing and access dominate the recent complaints: face verification rejected again and again, no way to cancel inside the app, emails to support that went unanswered, full-price charges after a promotion, and suspensions with no reason given. A smaller group says the same profiles keep showing up in search. The positive reviews mostly come from people whose account problems were fixed or who met someone.
Risk notes
- Renewal and no refunds. Premium renews automatically. The help center asks you to cancel at least 7 days before the next billing date through support; deleting the app or deactivating does not cancel.
- The Student Program has conditions. It is for female members who register as sugar babies, it lasts five years at most, and the terms let Sugarbook revoke it for "misuse, fraud, or ineligibility". The minimum age on Sugarbook is 18.
- Know the legal line. Sugar dating between consenting adults is legal in many places, but exchanging money for sex is illegal in many jurisdictions, and the rules differ by country and state. Our guide is sugar dating legal covers the basics. It is not legal advice.
- History. In 2021 Sugarbook's founder was arrested in Malaysia and the site was blocked there, according to Wikipedia (third-party). Our is Sugarbook legit page covers the record.
- Scams reach free accounts too. Sugarbook's own advice on requests for money or gifts is not to pay, and to block and report. Anyone who wants a fee before an allowance is running a scam; see sugar daddy asks for a fee or gift card. If a match moves you to X (Twitter), check the profile in our Account Radar first.
Who it suits
The free tier suits sugar babies, who can use the core features at no cost once verified, and female students who qualify for free Premium through the Student Program. It also suits a man who wants to see who is active near him before he pays. Watching livestreams costs nothing for anyone.
Who should skip it
Skip it if you are a man who wants to talk without paying. A free account lets you browse and save favorites, not hold conversations. Skip it too if easy cancellation matters to you: the help center describes a support request, not a self-serve cancel button.
